n
the recent years, a lot of private productions have made their mark
on the tube; some have been trend setters in the sense that they
provided viewers with some thing new while others refreshed the
classical plays with their themes. Mohammad Usman and Zulfiqar Ali,
the duo are one such name, both have been associated with the tube
for the last 20 years or so and in that period they have worked
over a lot in Lollywood and tube. Most of their plays have been
termed as the revival of the classical plays that PTV had in 80’s.
Like Aashiana their first major play. Their second play Bulandi
was a revival of the classical plays and themes and their third
play Sawan broke the records of popularity all over the Pakistan.
This time, the duo is busy with their new serial Beeti, which in
their own words is ‘very mature production and deals with
the lacking of our modern family structure’. A TV2 production
Beeti is a play that has a lot of big names in it and is once again
meant for the general masses devoid of the glamorous stuff. Produced
by Mohammad Nafees, penned by Syed Mohsin Gillani and directed by
Usman and Zulfiqar, the play is meant to show the importance of
daughters in a family where sons are given importance than them.

| The
cast includes big names like Saira Khan, Shugufta Aijaz, Mohsin Gillani,
Shaista Jabeen, Roop, Naveed Siddiqui, Ahsan Khan, Imran Khan, Farhana
Maqsood, Farheen Raja, Arbaz Khan, Farah Tufail and Ayesha Haq. Saira
Khan who plays the title role is caught up between her biological
and stepmother throughout the course of the play. She tries her level
best to prove her real mother right, who is by virtue of some strange
circumstances, terribly misunderstood by her friends and foes. |

A
formal ceremony to show the promo and some shot of the play was arranged
in the producer’s house, where the writer Syed Mohsin Gillani
lamented the very fact that daughters are blessings of Allah and they
bring blessings for the whole family. ‘Our Holy Prophet (PBUH)
himself showed how much love we should do with the daughters. In a
family daughter is as important an entity as sons.’ Usman and
Zulfiqar, both the director discussed briefly about the way they shot
the whole serial, a few scenes shot at the Malam Jabba were the highlight
of the whole ceremony.
The way the scenes were shoot in intense snow, it was really a very
difficult task, the viewers with certainly enjoy the shooting out
there. They praised the way Shugufta Aijaz portrayed her character
and in their own words ‘she is one of the finest actresses around’.
While talking about the theme of the play they summed the whole idea
in just one sentence, ‘One daughter to prove her real mother
right is fighting with the ideas of her stepmother through her smile
and love.’ |

The
way the play has been shot and the way the whole team is working
on it, there is no doubt that the play will certainly make a mark
when it will be telecasted. It is high time that more plays dealing
with the social and
sensitive issues must be brought to light in order to let the

viewers think about them rather than blindlessly showing the foreign
country shot serials with no theme and story at all. |
