Dil Se Dil Tak on the verge of release and their other plays fastly
wrapping up, the duo of Usman Zulfiqar is upto something entirely
new this time. They along with Khuraam Rana are working on a 100 Episode
soap on the pattern of popular soaps been churned by Ekta Kapoor (BalaJi
TeleFilms) on Star Plus. The soap has been titled tere Pehloon Mein
that is penned by actor turned writer Syed Mohsin Gillani. A production
of IQ Studios, the play is in the preliminary stages right now and
is set to start its camera rolling from the mid of November.
At a time when so many plays are been churned out; and so many soaps
are in the making by prominent directors, Usman Zulfiqar and Khurram
Rana has been able to carve a niche among them by being different
in their approach. It is the first soap to be shot on DG Beta, a technology
that is been used in different satellite channels like Star Plus that
gives excellent production results. While revealing the details of
the play, he told, ‘we are going to be pioneers in introducing
this complete technology along with all necessary accessories in Pakistan
for the first time. It is the first time that any soap is going to
be shot on such pattern. The technology will bring an innovation in
our broadcasting technology and this is just one of the steps that
we have took in order to bring quality in the productions’.

productions before that have worked on a number of plays and all have
been known to be quality productions. They have produced Mohabbatein,
Dil Se Dil Tak and Zameen Zade along with hosts of documentaries and
shows. Another feather in the cap of this production is that the sets
of the soap are been specially designed by Tanveer Fatima that have
been fixed in Bari Studios. This is one of their biggest projects
this year which is one of the much hyped about project as it combines
the best talent of the two country under one banner, with the whole
production handled by Khurram Rana of IQ Studios, directed by Usman
Zulfiqar, known to be the finest directors of the town with many hit
plays on credit, Tanveer Fatima, who is no doubt one of the best designers
of Pakistan and Nadeem Sharawan, one of the best music directors of
India alongwith Javed Akhtar, the finest lyricist of India. |

Talking
to the Nation Plus while finalizing the casting, Usman Zulfiqar told,
'It is indeed different that such costly sets are been set up for
any soap in Pakistan. We are in high spirits and are hoping that this
project turns out to be excellent. We are working hard as we want
to give masses something different than they have seen on StarPlus.
That is why we are working hard’, he added, ‘We have made
it a resolve that only those characters must be created that viewers
can be friends with. Only then are stories woven around them. The
characters are compelling to watch because they reflect an intelligent
balance between realism and idealism. As a result, when in plays artistes
weep - or - laugh - on - screen, viewers too do so’.
Syed Mohsin Gillani has been working on the script for the last three
months alongwith a panel of writers including some new faces and prominent
journalists. He told, ‘It is completely done in a soap manner,
there are story consultants as well as script advisors in the soap
and we will be changing our story with respect to the environment
and the feedback that we will get from the viewers’.

The
casting of the play is yet not completely final as the team is introducing
some totally new faces in the soap. ‘As many as 15 auditions
have been done so far in Lahore and Islamabad, now we are planning
to have auditions in Karachi and Multan in the next stages. Only
¾ have been selected which are still kept in secret as to
give viewers a totally new thing’.

Famous
Indian music composer Nadeem Sherawan is doing the music of the soap
while Javed Akhter is penning the lyrics of the theme song. Pakistani
designer Malaika Khan has done the complete wardrobe of the female
cast. |
