[With
all the hype about Javed Sheikh's highly rated flick, it has not managed
to create the blast that it should have. The audience is not really
disappointed but is not exactly excited about the out come either.
The same old story, presented in a different way - this has been going
on since the advent of cinema in the sub continent.
Another love triangle to Lollywood's credit - that is what Yeh Dil
Aapka Hua is all about. |
| Falak
(Moammar Rana) and Chaand (Salim Sheikh) are the best of friends and
are living in Spain. Chaand's sister Pinky (Veena Malik) has secret
feelings for her brother's best friend. While on a vacation in Switzerland,
Falak meets Pakistani beauty Sitara (Sana) and falls head over heels
for her. You'd think what this female is doing in churidaars amidst
minis clad Swiss beauties. But as luck would have it, Falak dear only
manages to find out that this babe is a Karachiite and thus catches
the first flight to Pakistan. |

Enter Javed Sheikh and Baber Ali who are bitter business rivals
and Falak dear ends up at Javed's lavish abode. Once in Karachi,
Falak's desparate hunt for his love starts and he manages to find
her in the sea of people in Karachi - well, love makes all things
possible!
Now come the predictable song and dance routine and the tow lovers
discover that their respective big brothers do not see eye to eye.
Besides Sitara has been unofficially engaged to the son of a family
friend in Spain. They try eloping but circumstances are not in their
favor. Sitara ends up in Spain while poor Falak is left behind.
Now the story goes that they both end up getting together in Spain
but one pain in the neck brother and an equally irritating fiancé
make life even more miserable for the couple. But as luck would
have it - all is well that ends well, so no worry guys.
The story is nothing new but the presentation definitely is. The
beautiful locations in Spain and Switzerland made up for the drab
storyline but that is about it. Everybody handled their parts well
except Moammar's tendency to over act at times.
The music by Amjad Bobby stands as the highpoint of the film. Though
the music is worth an ear, a bit of imagination on the part of choreographers
would have done to the film what Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Koi Mil Gaya
and Saajan Ji did for the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Whilst,
the promos of the film were being flashed across the screens and hoardings
along the roadsides, one expected that Sana's dresses, by Safina Sabzwari,
might set a trend or two in the local fashion scene. |
Unfortunately
they turned out to be heavily inspired from the wardrobes of Yash
Chopra and Karan Johar's protagonists, and Sana, with her heavy frame
couldn't even carry them well. Her looks were inconsistent throughout
the film. She looked breathtaking at some instances and dull at others.
She wasn't given enough lines to utter. In fact, Veena Malik managed
to prove that given a fair chance she can act.
Despite its flaws, Yeh Dil Aap Ka Hua deserves a peek, for it is better
than Buddha Shers and Kaalos flooding the cinema houses. At least
it doesn't question your sanity. Sheikh has tried to keep it as grounded
as the medium of cinema could allow him to. So you don't end up coming
out of the cinema house feeling that you'd just had an unpleasant
date with an alien world and you are back to reality.
After Chalo Ishq Larain, Yeh Dil Aapka Hua is another film that demands
us to draw comparisons with mediocre stuff that Lollywood filmmaking
machinery is churning out. I am sure a lot of effort went into the
movie and all but I also think that it is about time that this effort
is chanelized in another genre - IMAGINATION!
